Farm Life, Joined In Rather Than Watched

Fourteen ways to spend your days here. Nothing is scheduled to the minute and nothing is compulsory — the farm simply gets on with its work and you are welcome to join.

All Experiences

Choose Your Days

Most experiences are included in your stay. A few need a day’s notice so we can arrange the animals or the village host.

Horse Riding

Gentle rides along the field boundary on our two farm horses, led on foot for younger children.

Bullock Cart Ride

The old teak cart still runs the village route past the tank and the banyan tree.

Nature Walk

A slow two-kilometre loop through orchard, paddy and the wild quarter of the farm.

Bird Watching

Over sixty species recorded here. Best at first light near the pond, binoculars provided.

Camp Fire

Firewood from our own fallen trees, roasted corn, folk songs and a properly dark sky.

Organic Harvest

Join whatever is being harvested that week — groundnut, greens, paddy or millet.

Fruit Picking

Mango, guava, jackfruit and sapota in season, picked straight from the orchard.

Village Tour

Meet the potter, the weaver and the temple priest on a guided walk through the village.

Traditional Cooking

Grind on a stone ammi, cook over firewood, then eat it off a banana leaf.

Kids Farm Activities

Feeding calves, collecting eggs, seed balls and a treasure hunt through the orchard.

Cycling

Cycles for all ages and flat village roads with almost no traffic on them.

Pond Fishing

Catch-and-release at the farm pond in the cool hours, rods and bait provided.

Sunrise Walk

Our signature 5:45 AM walk to the eastern bund with a flask of filter coffee.

Evening Bonfire

Later, larger and louder than the camp fire — arranged for groups on request.

Nearby

Places Worth The Drive

Distances are measured from the farm gate.

Vaigai Dam

A wide reservoir with terraced gardens and a musical fountain in the evening. An easy first outing with children.

Sothuparai Dam

Smaller, quieter and ringed by hills. Best in the hour before sunset when the light drops behind the ridge.

Megamalai

Cloud forest, tea slopes and cold air. A full-day drive up a winding ghat road — carry warm clothes.

Suruli Falls

A forest waterfall with a short shaded walk in. Loveliest just after the monsoon when it runs strong.

Thekkady

Spice plantations and the Periyar reserve boat safari, across the Kerala border. Worth a full day.

Local Markets

The Theni weekly shandy — vegetables, seeds, cattle and sugarcane. We can take you along on market morning.

Village Temples

Three small stone temples within walking distance, the oldest more than four hundred years old.

Cumbum Valley Vineyards

The grape country of Tamil Nadu. Vineyard walks and fresh juice pressed while you wait.
